The 277th Map of the Week is from the second Jörðgarð (TM) Trails adventure on the Fallen Empire Trail, "Draug Hunters." The map shows the haunted tower of the ghost Erlín, who once was a powerful but evil Æsir wizardess. The tower is upon the island of the wizardess Listalín in the Misty Spring lake area. Misty Spring is a large lake that is fed by a spring. The lake is the source of the Fogwater River. Unknown to most, there are several populated islands upon the lake. It is a hidden area, constantly covered by a magical fog.
When PCs arrive on Listalín's isle, she gives them the following warning regarding Erlín's tower ruin:
"The ruin will be your bane, should you go there," Listalín says. "It belonged to the traitorous wizardess Erlín. Falur and his soldiers brought her to justice, slaying her and her minions and destroying her tower. She was so filled with malice that she managed to remain in her ruins after her death as a ghost. We know spells that could destroy Erlín's ghost, but Helka and Hálfdanr decided to punish her further for her treachery.
"Instead of destroying her, they placed a spell of binding upon Erlín's ghost. She cannot move more than 100 feet/30 meters from the perimeter of her tower complex. We do not go there. Nor does anyone else go there. Instead of wreaking revenge and venting her malice, as a ghost wishes to do, Erlín is condemned to stay alone, day after day, month after month and year after year in the shambles of her own past life. That will be her fate until we or someone else one day work the magic upon her that is necessary to destroy her and at last send her soul to Hela.
"However, you cannot challenge her. You have nothing to employ against her. The only thing that can damage a ghost is magic that still is beyond your ability. However, she not only can damage you; she can slay you and easily. Erlín's ghost still can work the spells that Erlín could work in life. She was a mighty wizardess who commanded absolute magic."
