Joerdhgardh Map No. 473 is from the newly-released Joerdhgardh Trails adventure "A Tale of 2 Books." The PCs' journey through the vampire-ruled North Kingdom nears its end as they reach Darkhall, the castle of the former dark draug (undead) Thingúl. Here the PCs hope to find the evil ice key that they are seeking. The battlemap shows the 2nd story of Darkhall.
The stairs end at a 2nd story landing with railing that surrounds the open area above Location No. 1 on the ground floor. This area has a single door on the west side, a double door on the east side and three shuttered windows in the south wall behind the stairs.
The stairs end at a 2nd story landing with railing that surrounds the open area above Lo-cation No. 1 on the ground floor. This area has a single door on the west side, a double door on the east side and three shuttered windows in the south wall behind the stairs. Three inanimate orc skeletons lie upon the floor in the northeast corner. There also are a wood-burning stove, two wooden shields, a pile of what appears to be old, dirty orc clothing, a wooden table, a winesack and other debris on the floor. There is a wizard's circle in the floor before the door in the south wall. Tiny orange flames flicker over the circle.
The door opens into the upper story of the northwest tower. There are five shuttered windows in the wall. The shutters of the three on the northside are open. The shutters to the west and southwest are closed. Three orc warriors are dead on the floor. There is the stairway to the ground floor.
The door opens into an empty room 27 feet/8 meters wide and 35 feet/10.5 meters deep. Construction of this room never was finished. The walls still are raw stone, and a thick layer of dust is on the floor. There are two shuttered windows in the east wall, three in the west wall and one in the south wall. A green wizard's circle is on the floor inside the door. Tiny grass-like tentacles wiggle from it. The wall curves in the southwest corner, where you recall that there is a one-story tower.
The door opens into an empty room 34 feet/9 meters deep and wide. Construction of this room never was finished. The walls still are raw stone. There are three shuttered windows each in the east and north walls. The curved wall of the northeast tower juts into the wall in the northeast corner. It has a doorway into the tower. Inside the room to the left, just inside the door, is a chimney with wood-burning stove. Across the entry threshold on the floor is a large, blue wizard's circle, about 8 feet/240 cm in diame-ter. Small mini-geysers of boiling water boil up from it and dissipate quickly in the air. There is another double door in the south wall. Before it is a smaller wizard's circle, about 5 feet/150 cm in diameter. In its center is the upper part of a globe which appears to contain boiling lava. Orange flames lick up around the outer circle.
The door opens into the upper story of the northeast tower. There are five shuttered windows in the wall. The shutters of the three on the north side are open. The shutters to the east and southeast are closed. Three orc warriors are dead on the floor. The only other thing in the tower is the stairway to the ground floor.
The door opens into an empty room 34 feet/9 meters deep and wide. Construction of this room never was finished. The walls still are raw stone, and a thick layer of dust is on the floor. There are two shuttered windows in the west wall, three in the east wall and one in the south wall. A light blue wizard's circle is on the floor inside the door. It seems to be made of ice. Water vapor steams up from it.
